This module holds the login credentials of each JSCAPE MFT Synchronizer Agent instance installed on remote hosts. An agent instance can only authenticate and connect with the agent service if it has already been added to this module.

When to use agents

Agents are employed in instances wherein the remote host that you would like to synchronize with JSCAPE MFT Synchronizer doesn't have any supported file transfer service. Agents have much smaller computing resource footprints and lower maintenance requirements than a full blown file transfer solution. Hence, they are more practical for synchronization purposes. See installation components

Sample use case:

Consider an oil drilling company that has thousands of oil rigs from which it needs to collect data on a daily basis. If these oil rigs don't have any file transfer service installed on their system, the company can simply install instances of JSCAPE MFT Synchronizer Agent on each oil rig. The agents can then be used to synchronize data with a central hub, i.e. JSCAPE MFT Synchronizer.

Other sample use cases:

A large retailer that needs to push pricing updates to all POS systems
A water company that needs to pull usage data from all subscribers
A government agency that needs to pull employment statistics from each of its regional offices

Installing agents

Installation instructions for agents can be found in the installation pages for Windows, Linux/UNIX, and Mac OS X
