Adding an Agent service |
Top Previous Next |
An Agent service is a special JSCAPE MFT Server service that accepts connections from remotely installed JSCAPE MFT Server Agents. This service works in tandem with JSCAPE MFT Server Agents to enable synchronizations with and between remote hosts that don't have any file transfer service (e.g. FTP/S, SFTP, SMB, etc.) running on them.
To add an Agent service, navigate to the Services module of a domain and click the Add button.

When the Service Protocol dialog appears, expand the Protocol drop-down list and select Agent. After that, click OK.

That should bring up the Add Agent Service dialog. Specify the following settings:
Host/IP - The IP address that this service will listen on. 0.0.0.0 means any available IPv4 IP address/network interface on the physical server, while :: means any available IPv4 or IPv6 IP address.
Port - The port number that this service will listen on. The default port number of the Agent service is 40025.
Private Key - The private encryption key that the Agent service will use for encrypted communications. This is sourced from either the Keys module in the top menu bar (for a global private key) or to the Keys module of this domain (for a domain-level private key)

The newly added Agent service should then be added to the Services tab.

The Agent service is primarily used in conjunction with remotely installed JSCAPE MFT Server Agents to enable synchronizations with and between hosts that don't have any file transfer service. For more information about setting up synchronizations read the chapter on Synchronization.
